A federal judge has approved a lawsuit that targets some of the largest social media platforms, including Meta (parent company of Facebook and Instagram), Alphabet (Google and YouTube), ByteDance (TikTok), and Snap (Snapchat), accusing them of contributing to a mental health crisis among young people. The lawsuit alleges these platforms use manipulative algorithms and design features that lead to addiction, anxiety, depression and other serious mental health conditions.
