Several class action settlements are accepting claims this month, giving consumers the opportunity to seek compensation for issues like false advertising, data breaches, and more.
USAA Data Breach – $3.25M settlement
USAA will pay $3.25 million to resolve claims that it failed to protect customer information, leading to a 2021 data breach.
The settlement benefits individuals whose personal information was accessed or compromised during the data breach that occurred on or around May 6, 2021.
The plaintiffs allege that USAA did not implement adequate cybersecurity measures, leaving consumers vulnerable to fraud and identity theft.

Everything Breaks TCPA violations – $995K settlement
Everything Breaks has agreed to a $995,000 settlement to settle claims that it made unsolicited robocalls to consumers, violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
The settlement covers consumers who received two or more robocalls from Everything Breaks within 12 months, despite their number being registered on the National Do Not Call Registry for at least 31 days.
The class action lawsuit alleged that Everything Breaks failed to obtain prior written consent before making these calls.

Apple Watch battery swelling issues – $20M settlement
Apple has agreed to a $20 million settlement to resolve claims that its Apple Watch batteries were defective and prone to swelling.
This settlement benefits owners of first-generation, Series 1, Series 2, or Series 3 Apple Watches who reported battery swelling issues between April 24, 2015, and Feb. 6, 2024.
The class action lawsuit claimed that Apple failed to allow enough space in the devices to account for battery swelling, which allegedly caused damage to the watch and led to costly repairs.
No claim form is required to receive settlement benefits.
Wells Fargo call recording violations – $19.5M settlement
Wells Fargo will pay $19.5 million to resolve allegations that it recorded calls with California consumers without their consent, violating state privacy laws.
The settlement covers individuals and businesses in California who received calls from The Credit Wholesale Co. Inc. between Oct. 22, 2014, and Nov. 17, 2023.
Plaintiffs alleged that Wells Fargo’s call recordings violated the California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA), which requires all parties to consent before recording conversations.

Beyond Meat false advertising claims – $7.5M settlement
Beyond Meat has agreed to a $7.5 million settlement to resolve claims that it exaggerated the protein content and quality of its products.
The settlement is available to consumers who purchased certain Beyond Meat products between May 31, 2018, and Aug. 14, 2024.
The class action lawsuit alleged that Beyond Meat falsely advertised its products, misleading consumers into paying more than they should have.

UnitedHealthcare robocalls – $2.5M settlement
UnitedHealthcare will pay $2.5 million to settle claims that it made unauthorized robocalls to individuals who were not members or authorized to receive calls.
This settlement benefits consumers who received non-emergency calls from UnitedHealthcare between Jan. 9, 2015, and Jan. 9, 2019.
The class action lawsuit claims that UnitedHealthcare failed to obtain consent before making these calls.

Walgreens Prescription Savings Club pricing – $100M settlement
Walgreens has agreed to a $100 million settlement to address claims that it overcharged insurance companies for prescription drugs under its Prescription Savings Club.
The settlement benefits consumers and entities who paid for prescription drugs from Walgreens between Jan. 1, 2007, and Nov. 18, 2024, using prescription insurance benefits.
The class action lawsuit alleged that Walgreens inflated prices, allowing the company to collect higher reimbursements than it should have.

Stanley Steemer data breach – $700K settlement
Stanley Steemer will pay $700,000 to settle claims that it failed to protect sensitive consumer and employee information in a 2023 data breach.
The settlement covers individuals who received a data breach notification letter from Stanley Steemer regarding the February 2023 breach.
The class action lawsuit alleged that Stanley Steemer failed to safeguard Social Security numbers and other personal information.

Fisher-Price Rock N’ Play Sleeper safety concerns – $19M settlement
Fisher-Price has agreed to a $19 million settlement to resolve claims that its Rock N’ Play sleepers were unsafe for infants.
This settlement benefits consumers who purchased, were gifted, or currently own a Fisher-Price Rock N’ Play Sleeper.
The class action lawsuit alleged that Fisher-Price recalled 4.7 million Rock N’ Play sleepers in 2019 after the products were linked to infant injuries and deaths.

Horizon Treadmill false horsepower claims – $600K settlement
Horizon has agreed to a $600,000 settlement to address allegations that it misled consumers by inflating the horsepower ratings of its treadmills.
This settlement is available to individuals who purchased Horizon treadmills between June 9, 2018, and Nov. 9, 2020.
The class action lawsuit claimed that Horizon falsely advertised continuous horsepower (CHP) ratings of 3 or 4 when the actual CHP was only 2.5 or 3.
